Random Blog (randomblog.rocks) is a small site that sends you to a random personal blog. We collect as little as we can. This page says what we do collect, why, and how to have it removed.
The newsletter
When you sign up on the Subscribe page, we keep your email address so we can send you the weekly newsletter. That's the only thing we use it for. We keep it until you unsubscribe: every issue has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us. Your address is also processed by the email service we use to send the newsletter.
Submitting a blog
The Submit a blog form asks for the blog's address and, optionally, its name, a note and your email. We use them to look at the blog and decide whether to add it to the list. If you gave an email, we may use it to reply about your submission, and, if you left the newsletter box ticked, to send you the newsletter as described above. Submissions are kept while we review them; email us to have yours removed.
Where it's stored
The site is hosted on Netlify, which also stores the form submissions on our behalf. Like any host, Netlify may keep server logs, including IP addresses, for a short time for security. See Netlify's privacy policy.
Analytics
We use Umami to count visits. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you: we see aggregate numbers such as which pages are viewed, where visitors come from, the country, and the type of browser and device. We also record clicks on the random button and the blog cards, without knowing who clicked.
Cookies
We don't set any cookies.
Links to other sites
The random button sends you to blogs run by other people, with ?ref=randomblog.rocks added to the address so they can see the visit came from here. That tells them nothing about you. Once you're on their site, their privacy policy applies, not ours.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time. Email hello [at] randomblog.rocks and we'll sort it out. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
